As the city is getting ready to welcome the New Year with enthusiasm, the guntur police have planned several measures and drives to ensure that citizens enjoy New Year’s eve, but without compromising on road safety and security. In order to ensure an accident-free New Year’s eve, the Guntur traffic police have announced traffic arrangements at Market Centre, Lodge Centre, Sankara Vilas Centre, Lakshmipuram Mother Teresa Statue Centre, Brundavan Garden Centre, Collector Office Road, Medical Club Road, Yethu Road, RTC Bus Stand and Old Guntur Road on December 31.

Traffic DSP Ch Papa Rao said, “New Year’s eve is one occasion when thousands of people will be out on the streets. Popular commercial establishments and open spaces favoured by revellers, will be secured by the Guntur police.”

“Security will be strengthened at all vital installations in the city. Places which witness high footfalls will be a priority for this year’s bandobast. Nakabandis will be set up on roads leading up to such spots and vehicles will be subjected to searches. We have asked the hotel owners to put in place good security checks,” he added.

Drunk and drive operations are going to be held from the night of december 30 till the early hours of January 1.
