At least Six labourers (workers) were crushed to death and two others managed to live with severe injuries when boulders fell on them in a quarry at Phirangipuram Village in the district on Saturday.
The poor deceased were hailing from Guntur and Krishna districts. The injured were rushed to Guntur Government Hospital (GGH) and the one of the injured condition is said to be very critical and chances of his survival is on counting numbers.
Locals were frustrated and staged dharna at the quarry shouting that the mishap occurred due to the negligence of management.
Kona Sasidhar ( District Collector) ,Superintendent of Police Narayana Naik and others officials rushed to the spot. Officials and everyone are trying to retrieve the bodies.
