Recently a 3 days Global Peace Buddhist fest was organised in our state.Several buddhist monks from all over the world and Thailand participated in it.Andhra Pradesh Tourist Development Corporation(APTDC) organised this fest.During the three days, thousands of people visited the venue and savoured the culture, cuisine and handicrafts of Buddhists. About 2,000 Buddhist monks participated in ‘peace chanting’ on Sunday, setting a world record.
A Thailand delegate told CM that they are ready to construct a buddhist temple in Amaravati.He met CM in secretriat.Reacting to their proposal, Naidu explained that the government would allot 10 acres land at the heart of Amaravati capital city for the temple and requested them to come up with a Detailed Project Report.They also proposed to introduce direct flights to Thailand from Vizag and Viajaywada.They wanted to support development of the Buddhist learning centre at Acharya Nagarjuna University and spread the message of Buddhism in a big way in the state.
