A stray dog created rampage in Vinukonda.It go on attacking one after the other starting from Vishnukundi nagar then in Reddy Nagar and Sanjay Gandhi Nagar.The dog first bite Mannem Kotamma (55) at Vishnukundi Nagar and went on to bite Ramanamma, Ramanujamma, Srikanth, Sravan, Venkatesh, Naga Malleswari, Manikanta, Murali Krishna, Sankar, Hanumanta Rao, Venkata Narasimha Rao and Sravani. Three others were received scratch injuries.
The municipal officials came into action after they received information about the dog attack in Vishnukundi Nagar. As they were hunting for the dog, it went on to injure another 12 persons. It took two and half hours for 15 workers to neutralize it.The injured were shifted to Vinukonda government hospital. They were treated and given vaccination. The municipal commissioner of Vinukonda D Ravindra told that they were taking all measures to control the dog menace according to the norms.
The Vinukonda municipal authorities expressed helplessness in containing the stray dogs going on rampage biting people because of the new rules. Earlier the municipal officials used to eliminate some of the dogs periodically either by killing them or by leaving them in the forest. However, with the new animal protection rules are being implemented they are not allowed to kill or shift the dogs from their habitations.
