Phirangipuram railway station in Guntur – Narasaraopet railway line is going to det a new record.The railway station on the Guntur-Narsaraopet line would be handed over to an all women crew from the station master to the signalling staff to the ticket-checking employees.
This is a big step from railways in addressing gender equality.The women empowerment in India’s biggest public sector organisation was really a major step towards gender bias issue.Phirangipuram railway station was the third railway station to acheive this women powered railway station.The first two are Jaipur’s Gandhi Nagar and Mumbai’s Matunga railway stations.
“Yes, the Indian Railways are for empowerment of women. By handing over a railway station to women, we are showing the potential of women to function in diverse fields,” Divisional Railway Manager, Guntur, V.G Bhooma, told on Thursday.
