Sridevi was the only actress who got the title “Female Superstar of India”.She was a legendry actress who rule Indian film industy during 80’s 90’s.She was highest paid actress at that time.She acted in films in five languages Telugu,Tamil,Malayalam,Kannada and Hindi.She ruled the hearts of Indian youth over 2 decades.
She was born on 13th August 1963 in Sivakasi.Her father was a Tamilian and mother was a Telugu.Sridevi’s real name was Shree Amma Yanger Ayyapan.She entered into film industry as a child artist.
Sridevi started her career as a child artist in 1969 devotional film Thunaivan at the age of four, and continued to act as a child artist in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada films. She made her Bollywood debut as a child artist in Julie(1975) and played her first role at age 13 with the Tamil film Moondru Mudichu (1976). Sridevi established herself as one of the leading actresses of Tamil and Telugu cinema.Premabhishekam,Akali Rajyam,Aakhari poratam,Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka sundari,Kshana Kshanam were her famous Telugu films.
Sridevi’s first starring role in Hindi cinema came with the 1979 drama film Solva sawan, and gained wide attention with the 1983 production Himmatwala. She went on appear in a series of commercially successful films.Sridevi returned to film acting in 2012 with the successful comedy-drama English Vinglish.She then starred in her 300th film role in the 2017 thriller Mom. She earned critical acclaim for her performances in both films.
Time magazine published a marriage certificate of Sridevi and Mithun Chakraborthy.But they got seperated in 1988.She married to Boni kapoor in 1996 and they revealed in 1997.She had three daughters Jhanvi kapoor,Kushi kapor,Anshula kapoor(step daughter),and Arjun Kapoor(step son).
She won five filmfare awards.She was offered a role in Jurassic Park by Spielberg but she refused as it was not a lead role.Her last apperance was going to be in a movie ZERO in which Sharukh khan was acting as leading actor.It was going to release this Diwali.
Though Sridevi died the ripples created by her will be with all of us forever.Rest In Peace Sridevi garu.
