Central government is taking steps to form a new railway zone in our AP making headquarters at Vizag.This was likely to be named as South Coast Railway zone(SCoR).This was carved out from SCR and ECoR.The central govt is facing alot of pressure from AP in recent days on regard of bifurcation issues and they are deciding to form a new railway zone.
The main reason for the demand of new railway zone is 80% of ECoR revenue comes from Waltair/Vizag division from our AP.So central govt promised seperate railway zone for AP during bifurcation.But they failed to fulfill in past 4 years.Now a lot of pressure was faced by central govt from us and they are inclined towards alloting seperate railway zone.
The new railway will be formed with Vijayawada,Guntur and Gunthakal with a part of it.Boundaries could extend up to Wadi with Central Railway & SCR, Gudur with Southern Railway, Pagidipalli with SCR, Katpadi with SR, Kondapalli with SCR, Bellary and Dharmavaram with South Western Railway, Dharmavaram with SWR.
As per the reports, Union Minister Sujana Chowdary, who has been conducting talks with the leaders from Odisha and minister from Odisha Devendra Pradhan, seems to have assured them that the creation of the new railway zone wouldn’t create any problem to Odisha. Devendra Pradhan and other leaders too are learned to have given their nod for the zone’s creation.
In addition to the Special Railway Zone, the state government had also urged the centre to release funds for the purposes of Amaravati, Kadapa Steel Plant and a railway division for the stretch between Vijayawada and Guntakal.
